Finding Peace Through Detachment
Do you have any attachments? Not sure?
I do sometimes, and so do most people I know.
It’s normal to form attachments to things. However, the downside is that it can wreck our emotional wellbeing.
Attachments come in all sizes and intensities. But one thing they all have in common is that one day, if left unchecked, they can end up causing unnecessary emotional pain.
In my experience, the only way to heal an attachment is to let it go — which is much easier said than done.
But what is an attachment and how do you know if you have one — or several?
What Is An Attachment?
To me, the essence of an attachment is holding a desire that is resistant to change. It’s this emotional rigidness that has a hard time accepting the flow of life.
Based on what I’ve experienced up to this point, everything seems to change naturally.
Clouds take shape and then drift off. Metal will shine, then rust. Trees grow, then fall. A seed grows into a flower. Jobs/hobbies/interests/relationships evolve into something else.
Nothing stays the same forever.
