I agree. The follow for follow tactic is hollow. I almost took the bait when I first joined but then decided I'll take the first year here and just focus on my writing and hitting that publish button. Stats are important but I'm treating them as secondary for now. I'd rather write and build quality relationships here with other writers. Besides, from what I can tell, making it here on Medium means playing the long game, but in a genuine and giving way.
