I recently came across a piece by Matt Hampton, and at the end of the article he said something like this, "Things waiting for perfection tend to rot in the mind." That stuck with me, and it makes sense here. Perfectionism is just a way to delay things, but when we do that we end up feeling worse and worse about them. It seems better to not wait for the perfect moment and just do what needs doing in the moment you realize it needs to be done. That's probably a more fulfilling way to live. I have to put that into practice myself, but it seems promising.
