I'll say that food was never really a problem for me in this regard, but escapism comes in all shapes and sizes. I certainly have other things I lean on when I am avoided feeling how I'm feeling, such as wasting time on my phone.
I'm going to follow your plan and write down how I feel each time I habitually reach for the phone over the next 24hrs so I can be sure I'm not neglecting myself.
