I'm still learning to write, but I favor simple words because they make the piece feel more concise. Better yet, using simple words in a poetic way is really cool. I'm not great at that but I'm working towards it. Lucky for me, English isn't my wife's first language, and so I always pass my articles through her and if something didn't make sense, I revise it with simpler words or to be more direct. She's really helped me make my writing more inclusive to people who speak English on a basic level.
