Are You Getting True Rest From Your Busy Mind?

If you’re burned out… then probably not.

--

They say we think thousands of thoughts a day. That’s cool, but I wonder how many of them are useful.

Now, of course, there is a time for thinking. But when I zoom in on my mind, it’s impressive how much nonsense I find rattling around making extra noise.

It drains my energy too. All that excessive thinking just burns it up. It’s like getting in the car to go to the store but driving around the block a thousand times first. I end up wasting my fuel before getting where I mean to go.

The choice is yours

Finding relief from exhaustive overthinking comes in two ways:

1. Getting dragged

The first way is the most popular, yet least desired. It’s letting thoughts race down their course while being dragged along until exhaustion reaches critical levels and the mind sort of temporarily shuts down from overheating.

In this window, maybe, some relief from thinking is felt. But often, it’s just a numb sensation.

This was my typical cycle. Think -> burnout -> exhaust myself -> too numb to care -> repeat. It’s a hellish cycle to be caught…
