Same. I can type way faster than I can write by hand. I've been known to type up a thought or email while having a discussion with someone else about something else. It's just so passive that I don't really need to think about it. With typing, it just goes.

And that's where I'm getting tripped up. So it's easy to get into a flow with typing, but is it really a flow if I'm not focused? Whereas writing by hand forces me to slow down and pay attention.

I don't know what's better, especially when it comes to drafting, then I find myself in analysis paralysis because I want to choose the best method for anything I write, especially these articles. lol Oh what a fun thing to fuss over.

To answer your other comment as well, I can't draw, not even a convincing line haha and automatic writing... hmm no I haven't tried it but that only because I've heard some interesting supernatural stuff about that practice and I had a bad experience with Ouija boards when I was a kid so I stayed away from anything like that.
