These are quite creative excuses, but I agree that honesty can sometimes be the best policy... depending on the personality of your boss. One time I told my boss I'd had enough and needed to take a day off to clear my head. Surprisingly, she said that's fine. She understood. Had I tried to wiggle some lie in there, it could have cost me. But being honest paid off there.
