Typing vs. Handwriting: Which Is Better for Tapping Into the Energy of Mindfulness?
I tried both, and here is what I found.
Like so many others, I prefer to write about what I’m thinking and feeling on a regular basis. It eases my mind, heightens my awareness of the present moment, and offers me clarity by making sense of the noise in my head.
You’ve probably experienced something similar if you journal or do some sort of stream-of-consciousness writing. It can be therapeutic. But I started wondering which is better for this kind of writing. A pen, or typing?
So, I experimented with this. For a few weeks, I typed out my thoughts every day. Then I switched to pen & paper and did the same thing. I wanted to know which was better at heightening the energy of mindfulness in me.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure I’d find a difference, but I did.
Is typing or handwriting better for cultivating mindfulness?
