Use the Warmth of Your Compassion To Melt Icy Emotions
Getting your emotions unstuck and flowing again.
In each of us flows a river of emotions.
Depending on how you treat yourself, your inner river is gliding along healthily or is completely frozen over.
Now it may seem like being cold as ice is a good thing when facing something that makes you emotional, but in this case, soft is strong and hard is weak.
Icy inner world
If we carry a cold indifference to how we feel, our inner river freezes until nothing flows at all. All we get then is excess inner pain and emotional inflammation from the stagnation of unprocessed feelings.
Unfortunately, this is very easy to do because turning away from painful feelings is more convenient than it’s ever been. A dopamine laden distraction is always within reach, which makes ignoring our feelings a pleasurable thing to do in the short term.
Yet, in the long term, you end up suffering more than you would’ve because your feelings stop flowing. They stagnate, harden, and become a heavier weight to carry.
To fix this means thawing the ice so your inner river of emotions can flow freely again.
