To me, being mindful means to live an engaged, intentional life.

Intentional living is about choosing to live consciously and purposefully — to get involved with life based on who you are and what the moment needs.

I’ve learned that a mindfulness practice works wonders with this because it heightens my awareness of the present moment, which is needed so I can engage in what’s happening right now.

But what does being engaged in the moment mean? It means to be present and flowing with whatever comes.

Sometimes that means working hard and solving problems. Other times, it can mean relaxing and admiring the sunset.

What it doesn’t mean is showing up physically and then mentally checking out.

Where Did My Mind Go?

A lot of times when our body is here, our mind isn’t.

It has a tendency to wander away from reality whether we are at work, home, on vacation, by ourselves, with family/ friends… you name it.

A mindfulness practice can help ease the mind so that our awareness has room to breathe and settle into being present.
