Your Energy Is the Only Currency That Can Pay the Bill of Regret

Beating yourself up over a mistake that you can’t change comes with a cost. This kind of regret is expensive and you pay for it by spending energy on shame, guilt and other forms of self-loathing.

Anyone that has been caught in this knows how draining it is.

Don’t confuse regret with remorse

Regret is overthinking/shame/guilt teaming up to bring you down and keep you there. But before moving on to the remedy for this, I think it’s good to distinguish between regret and remorse.

Remorse is feeling bad from realizing some action of yours hurt someone or something else. What you can do to change things is apologize or make some other attempt to mend it. With remorse, there is always something you can do to help heal the situation.

Regret is beating yourself up over something that can’t be changed at all. This is what I felt today and what prompted me to write this.
